El Centro College is in the Dallas County Community College District. Its LVN program holds accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Entrance into the program is competitive. A point ranking system determines student selection. Application requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, current admission to the college and completion of the Texas Success Initiative Requirements. Eligible applicants receiving the highest point totals receive admission into the program. Upon acceptance, students are required to return a confirmation letter within a specified period to confirm their acceptance. The program is comprised of 51 credit hours.

Platt College opened in 1979 and has campuses in Oklahoma and Texas. The Dallas campus offers an LVN program comprised of 100-quarter credit hours or 1582 clock hours. The program runs for 13.5 months. An applicant should be a high school graduate or hold an equivalency degree. She must also pass the vocational nursing pre-admission exam, pass a criminal background check, submit three letters of reference and interview with the director of nursing. The program holds accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
