The University of Arizona College of Nursing offers a Master of Science degree within the following nurse practitioner specialties: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Each of the programs feature different objectives within the coursework and require different amounts of clinical hour training, ranging from 720 hours to 810 clinical hours. All students are required to take certain courses. These include: methods in nursing research, conceptual methods, health assessment, pharmacotherapeutics for nursing, primary care of the adult, advanced pediatrics practice and pharmacology of acute care. As of 2010, the tuition for the aforementioned nurse practitioner programs is $600 per unit for Arizona residents, or $1,348 per unit for non-Arizona residents.

Northern Arizona University offers a Master in Science in Family Nurse Practitioner accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and all coursework has been approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Courses are taught using theoretical methodology while integrating clinical practice. Students enrolled in this program are required to undergo a total of 48 credit hours and 720 clinical hours to graduate. Coursework within this program includes applied pathophysiology for APNs, family nursing theory/practice, assessment practicum and other family primary care practicum courses. To be admitted into this program, students must hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an institution accredited by the National League of Nursing or the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale as well as hold a valid registered nurse license. As of 2010, the tuition rate for Arizona residents is $604 per credit hour, while non-Arizona residents must pay $1,244 per credit hour.

Grand Canyon University offers a BSN to MSN with a family nurse practitioner bridge program. This program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education as well as the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The BSN-MSN bridge program is designed for students who currently hold a bachelor’s degree in health studies or some other related field and hold a registered nurse license. After completing the core coursework for the BSN portion of the program, students are enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Coursework within this section of the program focuses on preparing students for the advance nature of being a family nurse practitioner. To be admitted into the MSN portion of this program, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. As of 2010, the tuition rate for the undergraduate portion of the bridge program is $687.50 per credit hour, and the graduate portion of this program is $560 per credit hour. Tuition rates are the same for both resident and non-resident students.
