Housing the only nurse practitioner program in the state of Oklahoma, OUCN offers a master's degree program with four possible tracks, including a nurse practitioner track in either family practice or pediatrics. Applicants must first have obtained their bachelor's in nursing or an equivalent course of study such as registered nurse training or a BSN (Bachelor of Science in nursing). Students enroll in courses on primary health care for children in the family and nurse practitioner roles and practice management.

To be considered eligible for the master's degree option at this school, you must possess a Bachelor of Science in nursing already. To become a nurse practitioner, choose between six specialties, including family and neonatal nurse practitioner, under the advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) track of nurse practitioner. Each program includes 48 credit hours along with 675 supervised hours where the student is expected to practice and exhibit knowledge of the curriculum studied.

As one of the master's programs offered in the Regis University School of Nursing, the family nurse practitioner (FNP) degree will allow students to obtain the necessary skill sets they need to provide and assist those who work in the field of primary health care. Upon completion of the required 46 credit hours, each student is eligible to take both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Examinations.
