"U.S. News and World Report" ranked UT Arlington's nurse practitioner program in the top 25 percent of schools in the country. Specializations are offered in acute care, pediatric acute care, family, adult, gerontological, neonatal, pediatric and mental health.     Texas Women's University

    • According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Texas Women's University has the largest doctoral nursing program and the 11th-largest college of nursing in the country. The TWU College of Nursing includes campuses in Dallas, Denton and Houston. The college partners with over 100 hospitals and clinics, with an emphasis on health systems and quality patient outcomes, chronic and behavioral health, women's health and strategies for educating nurses. Nurse practitioner master's programs at the Dallas campus include Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. Also offered is the doctor of nursing practice degree, which prepares nurse practitioners to become expert clinicians.

    • The Louise Herrington School of Nursing at Baylor University offers part-time and full-time programs in Family Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Midwifery Practitioner. The family and neonatal programs award a master's degree or post-graduate certificate; the midwifery program awards the doctor of nursing practice degree. The school, along with Baylor University Medical Center, is just east of downtown Dallas.
