Nurse Practitioner Programs in South Carolina

The role of a nurse practitioner is similar to that of a physician in private practice. Under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioners diagnose and treat patients, perform minor in-office procedures (such as OB/GYN exams, mole/wart removal and testing) and prescribe medications. Completion of an accredited master's of science in nursing (MSN) program is required to become a nurse practitioner (NP). According to Indeed.com, the average yearly salary for NPs in South Carolina is $85,000. NP programs are available at South Carolina universities.
