Spokane Community College is a public two-year community college in eastern Washington, and is part of the Community Colleges of Spokane. Spokane hosts an Associate in Applied Science degree program in biomedical equipment technology within the manufacturing division. The seven-quarter program includes courses like AC Circuits, Digital Concepts and Introduction to Chemistry, in addition to rigorous laboratory work requirements. Students matriculated into Spokane’s biomedical equipment technician program also complete a clinical rotation as part of the program’s curriculum.

Founded in 1971, Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College was originally known as Skills Center North. Located in the northern Utah city of Ogden, today the public technical college hosts more than 300 technical programs of study, including a certificate program in biomedical equipment technology. Students matriculated into the program follow a curriculum that includes required courses like Electronics Fundamentals and Computer Literacy, as well as electives like Practical Electronics Troubleshooting and Instrumentation Devices. The program also allows students to get field experience at a local health care facility through a required practicum. Ogden-Weber’s biomedical equipment technology certificate program takes less than two years to complete.

Established in 1964, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is a two-year school in the rural western North Carolina town of Hudson. With more than 100 programs of study, Caldwell students can choose between day and evening options on either of the college’s two campuses. The college features an Associate of Applied Science in biomedical equipment technology. DC/AC Electricity, Biomedical Equipment Technician Instrumentation and Hospital Safety Standards are just a few of the courses found in the curriculum. General education courses in public speaking and expository writing are also required for biomedical equipment technician students at Caldwell. The program takes five semesters to complete.
