Presbyterian Bible Colleges

The Presbyterian Church is a growing denomination within the United States. There are more than 1,400 churches in North America with more than 300,000 members. The Presbyterian denomination owns and operates several Bible colleges across the country to help train students to become workers in the church. Students study the teachings of the Presbyterian Church and learn to spread God's word to others.
  1. Graham Bible College

    • The Graham Bible College in Bristol, Virginia, teaches courses based on the teachings of the Presbyterian Church leading to one of three different degrees, including a certificate in Biblical education, associate in Biblical education and bachelor in Biblical education. The certificate can be earned in one year, while an associate degree requires two years and a bachelor degree requires four years. Students graduate with a deeper understanding of the Bible and its teachings.

    Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary

    • Louisville, Kentucky, is home to the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. A seminary serves as a training institution for students seeking to enter the ministry. The college offers degrees such as master of divinity, master of arts, doctor of ministry and a dual degree. Classes cover Biblical material in depth, as well as Presbyterian theology, pastoral counseling and mission work. Worship services take place in the campus chapel every Wednesday through Friday. Additional special services also take place throughout the year.

    University of Dubuque Theological Seminary

    • The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, is associated with the Presbyterian Church of America. Students can choose from one of three degrees: doctor of ministry, master of divinity and master of arts in missional Christianity. For students who have been out of high school for more than five years, the seminary offers a 3/3 program, which allows students to complete three years of undergraduate work, including one year in the University of Dubuque, followed by three years in the seminary.

    Columbia Theological Seminary

    • Several different degrees, both basic and advanced, are offered at the Columbia Theological Seminary in Georgia. The basic degrees include master of arts in practical theology, master of arts in theological studies and master of divinity. Advanced degress include master of theology, doctor of theology in pastoral care and counseling and doctor of ministry. These degrees offer various levels of training in Presbyterian theology and in-depth Bible study, allowing graduates to work in the church, serving as ministers, counselors and other leaders of the church.

    Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary

    • In Austin, Texas, the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary offers students four different degree programs to allow for service in different areas of the church. The master of divinity degree prepares students for work as a minister in the church. Those who wish to fill other leadership positions should choose to pursue the master of arts in theological study. Ministers who have been serving their churches for at least three years may wish to expand on their studies with the doctor of ministry degree. A dual degree program is also available, offering students two degrees in one course of school. Students receive a master of divinity, as well as a master in social work to better serve as a counselor to parishoners.
