Founded in 1919, Bethany University in Scotts Valley, California, was the first college established by the Assemblies of God Church. Bethany is a four-year Christian university, which offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in arts, sciences and professional studies. For students who wish to study at home, Bethany offers all courses online. Undergraduate programs include music, liberal studies, psychology, child development, addiction studies, church leadership and communication. Graduate programs include a master of arts in Christian ministry, education, teaching and a Master of Science degree in psychology. Requirements include studies in Bible, church history, practical ministry and theology. For students who wish to reside on campus, Bethany has single sex residence halls for on-campus living.
Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri offers four and five year baccalaureate degrees, two year associate's degrees and one year certificates. Baccalaureate degrees require a major in Bible and theology along with the selected professional major. Required spiritual activities include personal devotions, prayer, weekly chapel services and local church attendance. Each student must complete a ministry for 12 weeks each semester to qualify for graduation. All single undergraduate students under 23 years old must live in the college dorms, unless living with family in the greater Kansas City area. Calvary Bible College offers online courses and has a campus radio station.
Established in 1978, by evangelist Pat Robertson, Regent University boasts rigorous academics taught from a Christian perspective. Regency's seven graduate schools and one undergraduate school sits on 70 acres in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Regent offers over 30 accredited college programs including elementary education, accounting, journalism, marketing, Christian ministry, youth ministry and biblical studies. Regent provides international study programs in Italy, France, England and Israel. Available housing includes living quarters for students and students with families. All first year freshmen ages 17 to 22 taking classes at the campus must live on campus. Online learning is available for undergraduate and graduate degrees.
New England Bible College (NEBC) began in 1959 as Glen Cove Bible School, an affiliate of Christian Schools, Inc. Christian Schools closed in 1979 due to financial reasons, and NEBC reopened in 1980 with its new name. Located in Portland, Maine, NEBC partners with local churches to prepare students for service to God through ministry, and all programs at NEBC require a major in Bible studies. Programs offered include bible certificates, associate of arts, Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry, Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry With Greek, and a Bachelor of Science in Missions. There is no student housing at NEBC. The annual NEBC Spiritual Life Retreat takes place in lieu of classes every February. For three or four days, students participate in activities, games and worship.
