Bible Colleges in Oklahoma

After graduating high school, students of the Christian faith may choose to enroll in a higher learning institute with studies that emphasize their religious values. In Oklahoma, most Christian institutes are in the state's urban areas, namely, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The Sooner State's Bible colleges are represented by a variety of denominations, making it possible for student from all walks of Christian life to receive a biblical-based education.
  1. Oklahoma Baptist University and Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College

    • Oklahoma Baptist University is the larger of Oklahoma's two Baptist universities with over 1,700 students, as of March 2011. This university is in Shawnee, a town in central Oklahoma. Founded in 1910, Oklahoma Baptist University is affiliated and owned by the Southern Baptist Convention. Christian organizations include the Religious Education Fellowship and Fellowship of Church Musicians.

      Founded in 1959, the Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College is in southern Oklahoma City, right off Interstate 35. This college is affiliated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists. Bachelor's degrees include theology, church music and youth ministry.

    Oral Roberts University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University

    • Oral Roberts University is an interdenominational church in Tulsa. This university was founded by famed Christian evangelist Oral Roberts in 1963. Golden Eagle Broadcasting is the university's television station; this station broadcasts Christian-themed shows and is available on satellite television. The campus features the Prayer Tower, a 200-foot glass and steel structure.

      The Wesleyan Church has an academic presence in Oklahoma Wesleyan University. This small college is in Bartlesville, a town approximately an hour north of Tulsa. Oklahoma Wesleyan University features the Veritas Worldview Institute, a program that offers students a chance to participate in worldwide Christian evangelism.

    Southern Nazarene University and Southwestern Christian University

    • Situated in Bethany, Southern Nazarene University is one of eight higher learning institutes affiliated with the Nazarene Church. The school was founded in 1899 as Beulah Heights Academy in Oklahoma City. The university received its current name in 1986. Southern Nazarene University is an "open admissions" college, meaning it will accept anyone regardless of their standardized test scores.

      Southwestern Christian University is a four-year, liberal arts institution in Bethany, Oklahoma, less than 20 minutes from Oklahoma City. The school was founded in 1946 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Theology bachelor degrees include biblical studies, religion and youth ministry.

    Oklahoma Christian University and Mid-America Christian University

    • Founded by the Church of Christ denomination, Oklahoma Christian University is in the northern Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond. This university was established in 1950. Special interest organizations include the College Women for Christ and Outreach, a club that emphasizes in off-campus evangelism.

      Mid-America Christian University is a Church of God-affiliated school in the heart of Oklahoma City. Originally founded in Houston in 1953, the school moved to Oklahoma in the 1960s. This university offers a Master of Science graduate program with emphases in marital and family therapy, professional counselor and pastoral/spiritual direction.
