Oklahoma Colleges & Universities

The state of Oklahoma is home to numerous public and private higher education institutions. Several of the universities have received national recognition for their academic programs. The two largest universities in the state are The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. The University of Tulsa and Oklahoma Baptist University offer smaller environments, but still rank as some of the best in the state.
  1. The University of Oklahoma

    • The University of Oklahoma, also known as OU, is one of the largest public universities in the state and is located in Norman, Oklahoma. The University of Oklahoma has a enrollment of more than 30,000 students and more than 2,400 faculty members, as of 2011. The university ranks first in the nation for the most National Merit Scholars enrolled. The University of Oklahoma offers 163 baccalaureate-level majors to choose from.

    Oklahoma State University-Stillwater

    • Oklahoma State University-Stillwater is the second largest public institution in the state and is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It is the flagship university of the Oklahoma State University system. Oklahoma State University has an enrollment of more than 20,000 students. In addition to the Stillwater location, Oklahoma State University has five satellite campuses, including one in Oklahoma City and one in Tulsa.

    The University of Tulsa

    • The University of Tulsa is a private university located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. More than 4,000 students are enrolled at the University of Tulsa, with a 300 full-time faculty. The school offers 59 bachelor's, 35 graduate and 10 doctoral degrees. The University of Tulsa is recognized for the number of National Merit Finalists in attendance, one in 10 of all undergraduates.

    Oklahoma Baptist University

    • Oklahoma Baptist University is a private, small, Christian liberal arts university located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The school has an enrollment of less than 2,000 students and 134 faculty members. Oklahoma Baptist University offers 10 bachelor's degrees in 84 areas of study and two master's degrees. The school has been Oklahoma's highest ranked college by U.S. News & World Report for 17 consecutive years.
