Spring Arbor University began as a small primary and secondary school in 1873 and has since grown into a top-tier Christian liberal-arts university with more than 4,000 enrolled students. The university offers a wide variety of distance-education courses and boasts an 80 percent graduation rate for correspondence students. According to arbor.edu, the key to this positive statistic lies in Spring Arbor's interactive approach to distance education. Through social interaction tools built into the college's extensive website, students are able to enter into dynamic relationships with their peers and instructors, all from the comfort of their homes or offices.
Spring Arbor University is not just for students looking for theological or ministerial degrees: The correspondence school also offers graduate degrees in communication, education, nursing, organizational management, spiritual formation and leadership, and business administration.

According to moody.edu, Moody Bible Institute exists to help students understand, apply and communicate the truth of God's word in today's world. The Moody Bible Institute was founded in Chicago in 1886 by the famous Christian evangelist D.L. Moody. By 1901, the school grew to include a correspondence school for "the benefit of those of both sexes who cannot, for financial or other reasons, attend the Institute personally."
The Moody Bible Institute offers both undergraduate- and graduate-level correspondence courses to those unable to travel to the Chicago campus. Using a mixture of Web-based and printed materials, students earn their degree in Biblical studies, the only degree currently offered for distance learning. Correspondence students are also invited to participate in educational and missionary trips, which have included studies in Israel and earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, among others.
