Princeton University in New Jersey offers a major in music for undergraduates as well as a graduate program where students study composition or musicology. The undergraduate program has an emphasis on writing music as well as writing about music. Students can earn a certificate in the program as a music major, or as a major in another department of one of the most respected universities in the country. Students take courses in their chosen area as well as a range electives that are part of an undergraduate liberal arts program. Undergraduates can earn Bachelor of Music degrees. Graduate-level degrees include Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts.
Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is a Jesuit University that offers both a Bachelor of Arts in music and music education. The degree in music includes performance and composition concentrations along with a general study of music.
