Scholarships for Nursing Majors

Although a career in nursing can be rewarding, it can be expensive to pay for the courses required for certification. Luckily, a multitude of scholarships are available for nursing majors. Nursing scholarships are available from a variety of sources, including professional nursing associations, organizations committed to helping the victims of illness and even the U.S. military.
  1. NROTC Nursing Scholarships

    • The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps offers full-tuition scholarships to nursing students who commit to naval service upon graduation. NROTC Navy scholarships pay for the cost of a student's tuition and fees, include a stipend for books and also provide a monthly cost-of-living stipend of between $250 and $400. To be eligible, a student must be a citizen of the United States, must pass a physical examination, and must have achieved SAT scores of at least 520 in math and 530 in critical reading, or ACT scores of at least 21 in math and 22 in English. A recipient of a nursing NROTC scholarship is required to serve in the Navy as a nurse for a minimum of four years. Prospective applicants should visit the NROTC website for more information.
