Miller-Motte Technical College, founded in 1916, operates campuses in 12 cities in Tennessee and bordering states, including a location in Chattanooga. ITT Technical Institute operates 125 campuses throughout the United States, including the Tennessee School in Chattanooga. The school offers technology-oriented programs in four schools: Information Technology, Electronics Technology, Drafting and Design, and Criminal Justice. Degrees are awarded in areas such as information systems security, project management, software applications development, software development technology, electronics and communications engineering technology, computer and electronics engineering technology, construction management, computer drafting and design, visual communication, criminal justice and paralegal studies.
The Tennessee Technology Center is a unit of Chattanooga State Community College, an educational institution with an annual enrollment of 2,300 students. The school was founded in 1969 as the Chattanooga Area Vocational Technical School and, in 1981, became a part of Chattanooga State. It took its current name in 1996. The unit offers 21 one-year diploma programs and seven certificate programs. Forty-two faculty and staff make this piece of Chattanooga State one of the largest divisions of the institution.
Chattanooga College, established in 1968, offers programs in the medical office technology, office technology and computer networking fields. The medical office technology and office technology diplomas may be earned with 64 quarter-credit hours, while the computer-networking degree takes 96 hours. Office technology students obtain hands-on experience with transcription, coding, software packages and general education. Candidates for graduation must demonstrate minimum production-based skills. Those earning a degree in computer network technology will be prepared for entry-level employment as an industrial or field service technician.
