Nail Technology Schools

A nail technology certificate or degree allows an individual to work as a licensed nail technologist in a salon or spa. To be accredited, a nail technology school must meet the national standards set forth by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences. After completion of a nail technology course, a student is required to pass an exam to receive a state license.

    • The School of Nail Technology, in Birmingham, Alabama, is a Creative Nail Design Academy in operation since 2002. The school is run by Mona Lisa Poole, a nail technology educator for over 15 years and representative to Creative Nail Design and OPI. Students complete 750 clock hours and are trained to pass the state license requirement test. The School of Nail Technology includes an actively operational nail salon where students can practice.

    Academy of Nail Technology

    • In Phoenix, Arizona, the Academy of Nail Technology employs three full-time nail technology instructors who both instruct and mentor students. A graduate certificate can be obtained by pursuing a full-time track and finishing in 21 weeks, or a part-time track and finishing in 28 weeks. An onsite salon and spa is available for students to obtain hands-on experience. A one-time five-hour Arizona State Board Exam Preparation Workshop is also available for students looking to review before the state board exam. Also, various continuing-education workshops are available in "Sculpting," "Electric File," and "It's the Law-Sanitation and Disinfection," for those looking to refresh their knowledge.

    Artistic Nails and Beauty Academy

    • The Artistic Nails and Beauty Academy has been educating students in nail technology for over 20 years in its Lakeland and Tampa, Florida, locations. Each facility is over 7,500 square feet and equipped with modern equipment and nail specialist areas. Students log in 300 clock hours of training over a period of eight to fifteen weeks, including experience in the academy's full-service salon. The Artistic Nails and Beauty Academy also offers a job-posting page for students to find employment upon graduation.

    A. B. C. School of Cosmetology and Nail Technology

    • A.B.C. School of Cosmetology and Nail Technology offers two nail technology programs for students looking to pursue a career in nail technology, or just looking for a hobby. This Lake in the Hills, Illinois, nail technician state-approved license program requires students to complete 350 credit hours and the nail technology instructor program requires 650 credit hours, or 500 credit hours for students with at least two years of practical experience. An accelerated course is available for high school students, enabling them to take the board exam immediately after graduation.

    Marinello School of Beauty

    • The Marinello School of Beauty has been educating beauty students for over 100 years, with schools in five states across southwest America. The Manicuring/Nail Technology program involves mostly practical education, but also includes courses such as anatomy and physiology. The Raw Talent High School Scholarship is offered to high school students who are looking to pursue a career in any branch of cosmetology.
