Bok Technical High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, offers students the opportunity to explore careers in process technology through the school's Academy of Process Technology. Students study history of the industry, human resource considerations and chemistry. Community College of Rhode Island offers a certificate in process control technology at its Knight campus. Students are trained in calibration, maintenance and design of process controls. Courses include introduction to programmable logic controllers, digital electronics and fundamentals of circuit analysis.
UAF Community and Technical College in Alaska prepares students working towards an Associate in Applied Science in process technology for careers as operations technicians in several industries, such as oil and gas, mining and milling, utilities and waste water treatment. Courses include computer literacy for technicians and process technology quality. Los Medanos College in Pittsburgh, California, trains students to work at the many petroleum and chemical refinery plants located in the East Bay area of San Francisco. Students have the option of a three-semester certificate program or a two-year Associate of Science program. Both programs heavily emphasize mathematics as a skill.
Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas, offers a certificate and Associate in Applied Science in process technology. Students in this program are trained for work in the oil and gas industry. Courses include process operating procedures, fundamentals of process instrumentation, reactions, reactors and safety. Bishop State Community College's Associate of Applied Science is in process and maintenance technology. This program prepares students for work in stainless steel manufacturing, chemical plant and other plant operation industries. Courses include introduction to organic chemistry, motor controls and industrial measurements.
Olive-Harvey College in Chicago, Illinois, prepares students to work in the oil and gas, pulp and paper, milling and mining and seafood process industries. The program is offered in conjunction with the Chicago Urban League. Students may choose from a one-year certificate or two-year Associates in Applied Science. After graduation, the Chicago Urban League will assist students with career placement. Colorado Mountain College offers Associates degree in Applied Science as well as three certificate programs in process technology. Certificate programs are available in process technology, industrial instrumentation controls technician, and process technology operator. The college trains students for entry-level technician jobs in the oil and gas industry only.
The University of the Virgin Islands offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science in petrochemical process technology. Courses include a course on safety, health and environment as well as troubleshooting an a three-credit internship. The internship is available in the final semester at the HOVENESA refinery, one of the largest crude oil refineries in the world.
