Many famous personalities have walked the halls at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Olympic medalist Jeremy Wariner, former Texas Governor Ann Richards and Pulitzer Prize music winner Steven Stucky all went to the Baptist university. Baylor University prides itself on students that give of their time, logging in over 150,000 volunteer hours. Basketball, football and baseball are among the sports played at the school. Student organizations are plenty, including Literary Society, Reformed University Fellowship and sororities and fraternities. The school has over 150 areas of study; business, education and pre-law are among them.
The liberal arts college is located in the town of Wheaton, Illinois. Established in 1860, the school has 40 majors. Computer science, elementary education and liberal-arts engineering are among the list offered. The interdenominational college has around 3,000 students in the undergraduate and graduate programs combined. Almost half of the students participate in sports. Wheaton also has many overseas programs in places like Germany and France. Donald Soderquist, Senior Vice-Chairman of Wal-Mart, is a Wheaton alumni, as is the evangelist Billy Graham.
Biola University is an interdenominational school founded in the early part of the 20th century. Centered in southern California in the town of La Mirada, Biola has more than 145 degree programs. Psychology, theology and nursing are included in the list. With tremendous growth throughout the decades in their programs and student population, Biola has churned out alumni such as Senator John Thune of South Dakota and Charles E. Fuller, radio host of "The Old Fashioned Revival Hour," and founder of Fuller Theological Seminary. Men's and women's sports include golf, basketball, baseball and track and field.
Founder of the online dating site eHarmony, Neil Clark Warren earned a bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University, located in Malibu, California. From the five schools at Pepperdine, students can choose from over 100 programs and majors. English, psychology and international business are some of the majors offered. Businessman George Pepperdine started the school in 1937. Affiliated with the Church of Christ, the school received University status in the early 1970s and moved to the Malibu campus. Although the majority of the learning takes place in Malibu, the school has other campuses including those in Washington, D.C., Germany and England.
