LPN Programs in Tampa, Florida

Tampa is one of the biggest cities in Florida, combining with St. Petersburg and Clearwater to compose the Tampa Bay area. Tampa has a variety of colleges and technical schools that offer Licensed Practical Nurse programs. Most of the schools are located near one of the three Interstate highways that run through Tampa, or are near other major roadways accessible to the Interstate system.
  1. Erwin Technical Center

    • Erwin Technical Center is located less than 10 minutes north of downtown Tampa. Erwin offers LPN programs in the daytime and the evening. The day program takes 14 months to complete and the night program 16 months. Erwin's LPN program trains students in various nursing areas such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and professionalism in the workplace. Students receive training in health care facilities and on-site labs as well as the classroom. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, filpass a background and drug test and pass an entrance exam with at least 12th-grade levels in reading, math, and language.

    Henry W. Brewster Tech Center

    • Henry W. Brewster Tech Center is less than five minutes from downtown Tampa. Brewster offers an in-depth LPN program in which students learn in the classroom as well as lab and clinical settings. Brewster offers only a daytime LPN program as of March 2010. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and pass an assessment test in math, reading, and language or have a college degree.

    Gulf Coast College

    • Gulf Coast College is located in east Tampa near the Brandon area. Gulf Coast offers a number of medical programs, including an LPN program. According to Gulf Coast's website, the LPN program includes nursing and clinical training in a number of specialties: family and community health, nutrition, body function, relationship skills, mental health concepts, medications and administration of medications, legal aspects of practice, CPR, HIV and infection control. An applicant must meet with a school counselor, who will guide her through the application process.
