LPN to RN Degree Programs

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) who wants to upgrade her skills and earn a higher salary should take the next step in her career by completing registered nurse (RN) program. These programs teach advanced nursing techniques, healthcare science and research, management, administration and leadership skills. A range of programs are are designed for experienced LPNs, such as LPN-to-RN bridge, transition and fast-track programs.
  1. Mercyhurst North East

    • Mercyhurst North East College in Pennsylvania offers two LPN-to-RN bridge programs. A full-time course is taught on weekdays over seven terms and a part-time program is taught in the evenings and on weekends over ten terms. Both programs award associate degrees upon graduation and qualify graduates to take the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN). In both programs, LPNs can be given up to 15 advanced credits for their professional experience. To enroll,you must have graduated from an accredited LPN program, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have earned at least a C+ grade average in courses including chemistry and biology. Program participants must also have an active LPN license and a minimum of 6 months' work experience as an LPN.

    Charter Oak State College

    • Charter Oak's 4-credit RN-to-LPN bridge program helps LPNs refresh their skills and prepares them to begin an RN program. To enroll, LPNs must have completed an accredited LPN program, be accepted into an ADN or nursing diploma program in the State of Connecticut and have satisfied all prerequisites for entry, such as first-year courses.

    Blinn College

    • At Blinn College in Texas, a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) can enroll in a one-year LVN transition program to earn an associate degree in nursing and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN. Students take courses in adult health, health assessment and community-based nursing. Enrollees must have a current Texas LVN license and have worked at least one year as an LVN. LVNs must finish all prerequisite courses before enrolling.
