  1. University of Illinois

    • Students of the University of Illinois Department of Occupational Therapy program have the choice between four programs of study: a Master of Science Certification Program, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, a PhD in Disabilities Studies or a PhD in Kinesiology, Nutrition and Rehabilitation. Courses are available for research in occupational therapy; assistive technology and the environment, synthesis, disability studies and rehabilitation sciences. Students will also participate in clinical practice as a part of their degree paths. The programs are full time and require two to three years to complete.

      Tuition costs for students beginning the programs in the 2010-2011 academic year are approximately $4,900 per semester. Financial aid options are available through the University of Illinois financial aid office.

    Chicago State University

    • Chicago State University offers students the option to combine undergraduate studies with a graduate degree, or to enter the graduate degree program separately. A combined Bachelor of Science in Health Science/Masters of Occupational therapy degree consists of a student completing his fourth year of undergraduate studies in the department of occupational therapy, and then beginning a graduate degree the following semester. Students in both programs learn skills in health conditions, human occupations, evaluation and intervention and research methods in occupational therapy. Clinical practice is required before graduation in each program.

    Midwestern University

    • The Occupational Therapy program at Midwestern University offers prospective students the chance to earn a Master's degree in just over two years. In addition, the university offers fieldwork placement for students during their studies and career placement assistance upon graduation. Course options include the study of the sciences, occupational therapy and the research related to the field. In addition, students learn skills in specialty areas including working with children and the elderly, upper extremity intervention and experiential learning. Students also participate in clinical practices to obtain real-world skills.
