Occupational Therapy Schools in California

Occupational therapists assist patients that have mobility and strength problems due to illness or injury to regain as much of their independence as possible. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of occupational therapists will increase 26 percent from 2008 to 2018. Californians aspiring to become occupational therapists have a choice of educational options.
  1. University of Southern California

    • Located in Los Angeles, University of Southern California offers a two-year master's degree for aspiring occupational therapists. Students learn about the theories and practice of occupational therapy during the first year of the program. During the second year of the program, students choose a specialty, such as working with children with autism, assisting people with injuries or helping disabled adults. To enter the program, applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree. The program values diversity and believes that applicants with degrees in fields unrelated to occupational therapy enrich the profession of occupational therapy and are strongly encouraged to apply.
