While preparing students for Pennsylvania state RN licensure exams, Drexel University offers a Bachelor of Science in nursing co-op program. The co-op, much like an internship and often paid, gives nursing students added exposure to the work world, according to Drexel University. Requirements to enter Drexel's nursing program include four years of high school English, three years of math attaining at least algebra II, two years of science and two years of social studies.

The nursing program at the Community College of Philadelphia comes in the form of an Associate in Applied Science, which prepares students for the Pennsylvania RN licensing exams. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission accredits the program and the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing approves of the program. Candidates must apply by Jan. 15 with prerequisites of biology, chemistry and two years of math courses.
To gain acceptance to the nursing program, students must have child abuse clearance, no felonies within the past 10 years and successfully pass a drug test. The school evaluates misdemeanors on an individual basis.

The University of Pennsylvania's nursing program is an accelerated program designed for those who already hold a bachelor's degree in another discipline. Applications for the accelerated nursing program are due in October for entry the following year. Along with the application, requirements include an essay provided during the application process and two letters of recommendation, with at least one being an academic reference, and college transcripts. The BSN-Second Degree program does not require standardized test scores but candidates may submit SAT, ACT and GRE scores.
