Minneapolis Community and Technical College offers an associate in nursing degree program. As there are a limited number of openings available each year, not all students who meet the eligibility requirements are guaranteed acceptance. Those interested in the MCTC nursing program must have worked at least 480 hours as a nursing assistant, taken the Nursing Assistant Test Out exam or completed a nursing assistant course. In addition, candidates must complete an application, submit official transcripts and complete any placement testing required by MCTC. Applicants also need to complete program prerequisites prior to applying. This program requires at least a 2.75 GPA on all previous college work and the completion of a science lab course with a grade of C in the past five years, according to MCTC's nursing admissions requirements. Nursing students must agree to participate in a criminal background check in order to complete clinical experiences. Graduates who complete the four-semester program are prepared to take the NCLEX-RN.
