Registered Nurse Programs in Minneapolis

This program requires at least a 2.75 GPA on all previous college work and the completion of a science lab course with a grade of C in the past five years, according to MCTC's nursing admissions requirements. Nursing students must agree to participate in a criminal background check in order to complete clinical experiences. Graduates who complete the four-semester program are prepared to take the NCLEX-RN.

    St. Catherine University

    • This private university for women offers an associate degree program that prepares students for the RN national examination. Candidates for admission to the nursing program must be enrolled as a pre-nursing student at the university and have at least a 2.0 GPA on completed course work. Prerequisite courses include anatomy, chemistry, medical terminology, psychology and composition, according to the nursing department's website. They must be certified nursing assistants in the state of Minnesota as well.

    • The University of Minnesota's Twin Cities campus offers a bachelor of nursing program. This full-time day program prepares students to become certified public nurses as well as sit for the NCLEX-RN. Clinical experiences are available in several healthcare facilities including the well-known Mayo Clinic. Applicants to the nursing program should have a minimum GPA of 2.8 and must satisfactorily complete course work in biology, chemistry, psychology, nutrition, human development and writing. They also must be fluent in English. The nursing department also considers healthcare experience, volunteer work and leadership abilities in the selection process.
