Students at La Salle University School of Nursing and Health Sciences can obtain nurse practitioner licensure in two specialties: primary care of adults or primary care of families. The school conducts its classes primarily in the afternoons and evenings to allow students to work full-time or part-time. To apply, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum 3.0 GPA, current registered nurse license in Pennsylvania with one year of experience, two letters of recommendation, a personal statement and a resume. Student matriculate in the spring, summer or fall and receive a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) after completing the program.

The College of Health Professions and Social Work confers a doctorate of nursing practice for adult and family nurse practitioner licensure. Student have a choice of attending the program either full-time or part-time, taking three to four years, including summers, to complete it. Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree in nursing, registered nursing license, satisfactory completion of the Graduate Records Exam (GRE) or Miller Test of Analogies (MAT), an interview, two professional references, a goal statement and a resume. Students with a current registered nurse license but a bachelor’s degree in a different field must complete four undergraduate nursing courses before admission. The program admits students in the fall only.

Thomas Jefferson University offers an MSN in eight nurse practitioner specialties at its School of Nursing. The specialties include acute care, adult health, family health, adult oncology, pediatrics, neonatal health, women’s health and gerontology. Students wishing to study full-time matriculate in the summer, while part-time students can start in the spring, summer or fall. In addition to prerequisite courses in statistics, nursing research and physical assessment, applicants must also have a bachelor’s degree, registered nursing license, two letters of recommendation, a resume and a personal statement. Students with a bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.2 or higher do not have to take the GRE or MAT.
