The College of Nursing & Health Innovation at Arizona State University (ASU) offers a 15-credit program designed for pediatric and family nurse practitioners who want to work with mental and behavioral problems in children and adolescents. Applicants must have a Master of Science in Nursing and work as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner or be a pediatric clinical nurse specialist. Doctors, social workers, and physician assistants with experience in child and adolescent mental health problems can also apply. Applicants must also have a current health care license in their state of residence.
The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Intervention Specialist Graduate Certificate Program is an online program with some visits to the Arizona State University downtown Phoenix campus. Cost of tuition varies, but can be estimated by using the Tuition and Cost of Attendance Estimator on the ASU website when applying.

Sinclair School of Nursing accepts students with a baccalaureate degree in nursing into its Family Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 credit hours of the baccalaureate program. In addition, they must have a current license as a registered nurse. Graduates of the Master's and Doctoral programs are eligible for advanced practice nurse certification as a Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by ANCC.
The program combines online course work with preceptored clinical experiences. Some on-campus visits may be required. Sinclair School of Nursing is part of the University of Missouri. Tuition costs $329 per credit hour. Other fees are also assessed.

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing offers Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing program for nurse practitioners who are interested in working with families, adults or geriatrics. Applicants to this online program must have graduated from an accredited BSN program or hold a B.S. with a major in Nursing and be licensed as a registered nurse. Coursework is completed online and clinical experiences are held with preceptors in the student's local community, so there is no need for campus visits. Graduates can sit for the ANCC certification exam. Tuition for the online program starts at $390 per credit hour. Other fees apply.
