The St. Louis University School of Nursing offers an online post-master's D.N.P. program that can be completed in as little as two years. The program requires nursing students to complete a total of 28 credit hours. Courses are taken during the normal academic school year and during the summer intercession periods as well. All of the coursework is completed online, but two visits to the St. Louis campus are required throughout the duration of the program (one at the beginning and one at the end). Students may also transfer up to six hours of graduate coursework. A capstone project is required as part of the curriculum. Courses include studies in Interprofessional Collaboration, Health Care Policy and Advanced Practice Nursing, and Principles of Epidemiology, among others.

The School of Nursing at Georgia Southern University also offers the online D.N.P. option. The program is offered as both a post-bachelor's and post-master's degree program. The program requires the completion of a total of 48 credit hours. Of these, 10 hours consist of core courses, 12 in leadership and practice, nine in electives and an additional nine in research. Courses of study required as part of the program include studies in Biomedical Ethics in Practice and Leadership, Population Focused Collaborative Initiative, Biometrics for Advanced Practice Nursing, Outcomes Management Strategies for Improved Health Care Outcomes, and Health Care Financing and Policy Development.

The program requires the completion of 28 credit hours, which includes a four-credit clinical residency. All coursework, however, can be completed online. The program is offered as a part-time program and can be completed in approximately two years. Courses required as part of the program include Leadership for Advanced Practice in Healthcare, Outcomes and Quality Management, Epidemiology, Information Systems for Clinical Decision Making, Biostatistics, Health Policy and Evidence Based Practice in Healthcare.
