Florida International University offers the first online program that was introduced as a full online occupational therapy master's degree program. There are no on-campus requirements and the program can be completed in six semesters, or two years. The curriculum in this program is divided into three components: the occupational therapy courses, the research core and the clinical core area. Students who complete this program will earn a Master of Science degree in occupational therapy. The curriculum consists of courses that include current issues and theories of occupational therapy; current research in occupational therapy; advanced occupational therapy intervention strategies; and evidence based practice and critical appraisal.

Boston University has a post-professional master's degree program in occupational therapy that is delivered online. The curriculum in this program is intended to improve the practitioner's ability to use his knowledge, research, social service and current theory systems in the clinical settings. The program consists of 11 courses and can be completed in 22 months if students take two courses each semester. Students will be required to take health promotion and wellness; healthcare management; educational theory and practice; evidence-based practice; and contemporary trends in occupational therapy practice.

This online, post-professional program requires some on-campus visits, but can be completed online in five semesters. The curriculum in this program is divided into three areas: evidence-based practice, research; and current and future trends in practice. Students will be required to take occupational therapy courses that include educational leadership; practice trends in occupational therapy; entrepreneurial concepts for occupational therapy; research methods; and directed study in evidence-based practice.
