Northern Arizona University offers an online speech-language pathology assistance program that leads to a certificate of completion. Students in this program are required to take seven courses to complete the program; these courses include communication disorders in literature and media; phonetics; anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing mechanism; and case studies and management for speech-language pathology assistants. The courses that are set up in this program meet the requirements that are set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Idaho State University has an online pre-professional program in speech pathology and audiology. This program is designed to prepare students with the prerequisite courses that are needed in order to enter into the master's degree program in speech-language pathology or for entry into the doctoral program in audiology and does not lead to a degree or certificate at this time. This course is offered completely online and students can expect to be finished within one year. Students who plan on entering in to this non-degree and non-certificate program must already have a bachelor's degree in another field. Students will take courses that include clinical phonetics and phonology; language sciences and development; aural rehabilitation; and neurological bases of communication disorders.

The University of North Carolina has an online speech, language and auditory program that will lead students to earn a master's degree upon completion. Most of this program is conducted online in the form of lectures in streaming videos, chat rooms and proctored exams. The portion of the program that is not conducted online will be with patients in various clinical settings. The curriculum in this program is identical to the on-campus program and consists of classes that include language development; introduction to audiology; aural rehabilitation; anatomy and physiology; and language development. Students will also learn about cranio-facial disorders and motor speech disorders.
