Speech Pathology Assistant Programs in Indiana

Speech-language pathologists, sometimes called speech therapists or speech pathologists, treat people with communication disorders. Whether acquired from a stroke or some other issue, difficulty with speech can hinder a person's well-being. It is the speech-language pathologist's job to improve the communication skills of her patients. While becoming a speech-language pathologist requires a graduate-level degree and certification, students with an undergraduate education in the field can serve as speech-language pathologist assistants. Several schools in Indiana offer programs of study in speech pathology at the undergraduate level.

Students must complete a minimum of 126 credits of study between the general education and major-specific courses. Opportunities for clinical observation become available toward the end of a student's time in the program.
