Mountain State University offers online sonography classes in its bachelor's and associate's degrees programs. The university is accredited by CAAHEP and has locations in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, West Virginia and the state of Washington, though a majority of the program can be done online. Students will be assigned clinicals based on location and availability; clinicals are a very important part of the program.

Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, offers online sonography classes that are accredited by CAAHEP to students nationwide. General ultrasound, which prepares students to be a DMS, is a 24-month program. There also is a 14-month program that prepares students to be a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or a Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS). Upon completion of any of these programs, graduates receive a certificate and can attend additional classes to receive a bachelor's degree in sonography.
