Gateway Community College is a public community college located in Phoenix, Arizona. GCC offers a diagnostic medical sonography program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Joint Review Commission of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS). GCC offers a two-year associate degree and a one year certificate DMS program. The only difference is that the associate degree program requires that you take general education classes that will allow you to continue your education at a university, should you choose. This program is only available to certain healthcare professionals. Some of the sonography classes you will take in either option are medical ultrasound physics and instrumentation, ultrasound anatomy, introduction to diagnostic ultrasound equipment and concepts of vascular imaging. Graduates will be eligible to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) to become licensed sonographers.

Central Arizona College is located just south of Phoenix, Arizona. CAC is a private college and offers a diagnostic medical sonographer program that is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. Graduates will qualify to take the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) to become licensed. Every student will begin the program by taking an introduction to diagnostic medical sonography class. Some of the other classes students will take in this 63 credit program include abdominal imaging, physics and instrumentation, small parts imaging, advanced procedures and vascular imaging. This is a 24-month program that leads to an associate degree in DMS.

Apollo College is a private college located just west of Phoenix in Mesa, Arizona. Apollo has a diagnostic medical sonography program that will prepare students to take national certification exams to become licensed. This is a 32-week program that combines classroom lectures and practice in a lab setting. Some of the subjects in this program are abdominal, pelvic, and obstetric anatomy and pathology. At the end of the program students will partake in a clinical internship. A certificate of completion is awarded upon completion of this fully accredited program.
