Western Kentucky University (WKU) offers an online master's degree in speech-language pathology. WKU offers the degree both online and on campus. The degree program is 49 credit hours and requires that students complete an internship and three externships to graduate. Students can enter the program from any prior field in their baccalaureate studies, but they must complete prerequisite courses in phonetics, language disorders, speech anatomy and physiology and a number of other areas before embarking on any courses in the graduate program. Courses offered as part of the program include areas such as child language, voice disorders, phonology, rehab audiology, neurology for speech and language, and cognitive linguistic disorders, among others.

The University of Northern Colorado offers a second option for an online Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. This graduate degree program is designed to last three years and requires that students already have a bachelor's degree in either communication disorders or audiology and speech-language science. Students are required to attend a two- to three-week session on campus in the first summer leading up to the beginning of the program, along with a 12-week internship for the final portion of the program. Areas of study covered by the program include fields such as aural rehabilitation and amplification, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, research in communication sciences and disorders, speech and hearing science, feeding and swallowing, speech production disorders and augmentive/alternative communication.

A third option for an online degree in speech pathology is East Carolina University's (ECU) program offered through the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. East Carolina offers a Master of Science degree in the field of speech pathology. This program is designed to last about three years in length and requires 54 credit hours for graduation. Students have the option of viewing the classes live online or simply downloading them and taking them at their own convenience. Students are required to attend a two- to three-day orientation at the beginning of the program and a 10-week internship prior to graduation. Students have the option of attending the internship in an area close to their residence but must attend one on the ECU campus if unable to locate a program close to their home. Courses within the program include language development, hearing science, aural rehabilitation, stuttering and other fluency disorders, and multicultural communication disorders.
