Pathology Assistant Programs Online

A speech-language pathology assistant works in groups and one-on-one with children as well as adults in school settings and clinics to help enhance their communication skills under a licensed pathologist. Pathology assistant programs are available online so that students may take the courses on their own schedule.

    • Chemeketa Community College has a speech-language pathology assistant program that offers either a certificate or a degree upon completion; only the certificate program is offered online. Students can complete this program in seven terms if attending part-time. This comprehensive program requires that students take 15 courses in order to obtain their Certificate of Completion. These courses include Learning and Development; Comprehensive Classroom Management; Multicultural Education; Speech Intervention in Children, Adolescents and Adults; and Phonetics for Language.

    University of Colorado at Boulder

    • The University of Colorado at Boulder offers an online professional certificate program for students who want to become a speech-language pathology assistant. This certificate program meets the requirements for authorization so that students can work in public schools in Colorado. The program is ideal for senior students in an undergraduate program or students who have obtained a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology. Students in this certificate program will take courses that include Introduction to Clinical Practice and Competencies and Strategies for the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. Students will also be required to participate in an internship for at least 12 hours each week for 180 hours.

    Lake Region State College

    • Lake Region State College has an online speech-language pathology assistant program that leads to an associate's degree. Students are accepted into this program in the spring semester of every year and can complete the program in one summer session and four semesters. Prior to acceptance, students must complete the following courses: Introduction to Computers; Human Structure and Function; College Composition; and Survey of Communication Disorders. Once students have been accepted into the program, they will take courses that include Introduction to Speech-Language Pathology; Language Development; Introduction to Articulatory Phonological Disorders; and Anatomy for the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.
