The Arizona School of Health Sciences offers an online Master of Science in Advanced Physician Assistant degree for students who have already graduated from an undergraduate physician assistant program. This 40-credit-hour program allows students to choose between an education/leadership concentration or a clinical medicine concentration. All courses offered within the clinical medicine concentration are designed to provide students with advanced clinical methods. Students enrolled in this program can select courses based on what they'll need for employment. Along with coursework, students are required to perform 400 hours of direct patient care. The education/leadership concentration teaches students advanced theory and practice for teaching professionals in the healthcare industry. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Anne Arundel Community College offers an online Physician Assistant Certificate program. This 25-month program consists of courses in patient assessment, procedural skills, behavioral sciences, professional practice issues and healthcare policy. After the coursework has been completed, students are enrolled in a local medical setting for clinical practice. To apply for this program, students must have at least a bachelor's degree. Applicants must also have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and have taken five of the following prerequisite courses: General Microbiology, Anatomy/Physiology 1 & 2, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry 1 or 2, Introduction to Psychology or Developmental Psychology, Fundamentals of Organic and Biochemistry or Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry. Courses within this program include research methods, clinical application of epidemiology, principles of evidence-based practice, leadership/stewardship and clinical colloquium. This 45-credit graduate program is created for the working physician assistant to increase professional development. To apply, students must have a bachelor's degree and successfully completed an accredited physician assistant program . They must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, submit two letters of recommendation and send official college transcripts.
