Students that are accepted into the 24-month master's degree PA program take courses in anatomy, physical diagnosis, pharmacology, clinical medicine, emergency medicine and pediatrics. Students who apply should have a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.2, 14 months of full-time direct patient care experience and at least 48 courses in natural science. Stony Brook University is located in Stony Brook, New York and offers a two-year master's program in physician assistant studies. Students in the program take courses in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, physical examination, diagnostic imaging and ten different clinical clerkships. To gain acceptance into the program, you must have a bachelor's degree, a minimum GPA of 2.75, 1,000 hours of patient experience and basic life support (BLS) training in CPR and first aid. Students must also complete prerequisite courses in english, mathematics, biology, genetics and chemistry. Students can sit for the national license exam if they complete the program successfully.
