Physician Assistant Undergraduate Programs

Physician assistants work hands on with patients under the supervision of a licensed doctor. The job affords the person the ability to diagnose and treat patients and can also entail managing the office of a medical practice. Physician assistants do not have to attend medical school, though many get a master's degree. A few colleges across the country offer undergraduate-level degree programs for physician assistants.
  1. St. John’s University

    • St. John’s University has a bachelor of science program in physician assistant studies. The degree program emphasizes anatomy, biology and clinical knowledge. For the first two years, students focus on theoretical knowledge; once they have proven a mastery of theory, students apply their skills in a supervised clinical setting. Clinical rotations can take place in a variety of settings, including private practices, medical centers and hospitals. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the physician assistant licensing exam.
