Bates Technical College offers the only dental lab technician program in the state of Washington that is fully accredited by the American Dental Association. This program provides students with the hands-on training they need to begin a career as a dental lab technician. Classes and laboratory instruction are offered Monday through Friday between 7:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students take dental lab technician courses that include an introduction to dental lab technology, advanced porcelain techniques, dental anatomy, dental materials, dental processes and aesthetic arrangement. This program accepts students in the spring and fall semesters and can be completed in approximately eight quarters.

Pasadena City College has a dental laboratory technology program that leads to a certificate of achievement upon completion. The curriculum within this program is designed to cover the five specialization areas: orthodontics and pedodontics; complete dentures; ceramics; crown and fixed partial dentures; and removable partial dentures. The clinical experience portion of the program is conducted at off-campus laboratory sites in the winter term of the second year. Students take courses that include denture techniques, dental morphology, beginning dental anatomy and directed studies in basic dental laboratory techniques. Students also have a choice of elective courses that include color and composition; small business management; workplace preparation and skills; and introduction to dental essentials.

Portland Community College has a dental laboratory technology program with two options: students can either choose to pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree or a two-year certificate of completion in dental laboratory technology. This program prepares students with the skills they need to create and modify various dental appliances. These appliances include carving and designing wax, casts and finishes of various metals as well as duplicating tooth forms and colors with acrylic resin and porcelain materials. Students take courses that include dental technology, dental anatomy, denture techniques, science of dental materials, dental laboratory management and dental specialties.
