Although these professionals usually must complete a four-year bachelor's degree program followed by four years of dental school, some colleges allow students to complete their dental training in just seven years through an accelerated program. Employment of dentists is expected to increase by 16 percent through 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Median annual wages of these professionals in May 2008 were $142,870, reports the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
