List of NAIA Colleges in Texas

Large colleges and universities are often more expensive that smaller schools, and some students can feel lost on a campus of more than 30,000. Colleges that are a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) offer student-faculty ratios that are much smaller than Division I schools. The state of Texas has 12 NAIA schools that offers students a more intimate campus setting.
  1. University of Texas Brownsville

    • The University of Texas Brownsville (UTB) is located near the border of Mexico in southern Texas. The school has an annual enrollment of around 17,000 students. UTB offers students 130 major areas of study for undergraduate degrees and 24 graduate degree programs. UTB is comprised of six colleges and schools, including education, liberal arts, business and health sciences. UTB features six men's and women's athletic teams that compete in four different sports in the Red River Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

    Texas College

    • Texas College, which is located about 100 miles from Dallas in Tyler, is a private Christian school that is part of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Texas College is a Historically Black College and University (HCBU). The school awards 18 different undergraduate degrees in four schools and two-year degrees in education and general studies. Texas College fields nine men's and women's athletic teams that compete in seven different sports in the Red River Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

    Texas Wesleyan University

    • Texas Wesleyan University is a private institution and offers more than 30 major areas of undergraduate study in four different schools. The school also offers six different graduate degrees and three professional degrees. Texas Wesleyan was founded in 1890 and has an annual enrollment of almost 3,000 students. The school fields 13 men's and women's athletic teams that compete in eight different sports. The school is a member of the Red River Athletic Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
