The University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (UWM) places a major emphasis on research, as extramural funding increased by more than 25 percent within a five-year time frame, as of 2008. UWM has 12 schools with 167 degree programs. The College of Nursing is the state's largest nursing school and is continually ranked in the top 10 percent of nursing graduate programs by U.S. News and World Report, according to the school's website.
