The military science program at Newberry College introduces students to the customs, operations and tactical responsibilities of the U.S. Army, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. First-year courses discuss military code of conduct, principles of war and the importance of communication. The five-week leader's training course during the summer semester addresses fundamentals of the military leadership role and the importance of communication in leadership positions. Advanced courses in military science touch upon many academic fields. Discussion includes human behavior and its relevance to military operations and warfare. Classes introduce military weaponry and explore the modern history of nuclear, biochemical and chemical warfare. The school encourages physical fitness throughout the four-year program, preparing graduates mentally and physically for Army officer careers.

The baccalaureate degree program in military science at Siena College prepares students for Army careers. The program teaches necessary life and communication skills as well as fitness and leadership while encouraging interpersonal relationships. Students learn to employ problem-solving, critical thinking and feedback mechanisms in group interaction and decision-making. The curriculum includes practical application and evidence-based case study. The Military Science program at St. Norbert College prepares students for officer careers in the Army, Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. The program focuses on the fundamentals of leadership, management and military skills. The four-year program has two components. The first two years are for all eligible students, but the final two, advanced academic years are only for those who commit to postgraduate military service. During the first year, students learn fundamental military skills, including land navigation, first aid and an introduction to military weaponry and equipment. The course teaches leadership and communication skills, and introduces students to combat tactics, principles of warfare and military justice.
