Georgia Military College is a multi-campus liberal arts school. Its home campus and historical antecedent is located in Milledgeville. The school was established in 1879 to "educate young men and women from the Middle Georgia area in an environment which fosters the qualities of good citizenship." Originally the college was named the Middle Georgia Military and Agricultural College, and as such offered an educational venue located at the original state's capitol. Today, the college offers a two-year program in military science oriented to the preparation of young men and women who wish to enter the U.S. Army as second lieutenants.
