Technical Colleges in AZ

Arizona is located in the southwestern part of the United States, just between New Mexico and California. The state of Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon and also features extensive desert regions through the state. However, such landscapes do not leave the area devoid of thriving institutions. The state has a number of technical colleges, including the ITT Technical Institute, the Mesa Community College, the Universal Technical Institute and the University of Phoenix.
  1. Mesa Community College

    • The Mesa Community College features academic departments, including applied sciences and technology, fire science, reading, mathematics and computer science, business and information systems, cultural science, education studies, life science, music, nursing, psychological science, social science and world languages. Students at Mesa Community College may participate in sports, such as softball, golf, soccer, football and volleyball. Students may also join clubs, including the biotechnology club, the campus crusade for Christ, the crime investigators club, the fashion focus club, the math club, the philosophy club and the pre-med club.

      As of 2011, tuition for one to 6.5 credit hours is $71 for students who are United States citizens and $96 for out-of-country students. Tuition for seven or more credit hours is $71 for students who are United States citizens and $280 for out-of-country students.

    ITT Technical Institute

    • ITT Technical Institute features an electronics and communications engineering technology program, which teaches students about data and network communications, digital communications, calculus and circuit design and data. Additional courses include contemporary world culture, embedded systems and programming in Linux. ITT Technical Institute features a school of information technology, a school of electronics technology, a school of drafting and design, a school of criminal justice and a school of health sciences with science and applied science degrees. As of 2011, tuition per credit hour is $493.

    Universal Technical Institute

    • Universal Technical Institute features two core programs. The automotive technology training program is a 51-week core program that offers hands-on lab training. The diesel and industrial technology training program is a 45-week core program that provides instructions and hands-on training in the machines that are important in the operations of automotive businesses. Training in diesel and industrial technology is done within a large on-campus diesel laboratory. Students will learn about motorcycles, NASCAR, marine vehicles and collision repair. Tuition begins at $18,000 and ends at $43,000 for programs lasting from 12 months to 18 months.

    University of Phoenix

    • Students at the University of Phoenix may obtain degrees in nursing and health care education, communication science, health administration and counseling science. Classes at the University of Phoenix are small, which allows for personalized attention. Students receive an accommodating course schedule, Internet access to academic resources and networking opportunities. Technology in the schools classrooms include an online library of eBooks, simulations for electronic demonstrations and virtual organizations that are made to simulate problems in real-life, which is meant to help students develop problem-solving skills. As of 2011, tuition per credit ranges from $365 to $770 depending on the type of degree.
