California Technical Colleges

The California Postsecondary Education Commission states that as of 2010 two-year public institutions, consisting of community and technical colleges, comprised 112 colleges in 72 districts. Approximately 2.9 million students attended the state's colleges in 2010, which according to the Education Commission represents the largest system of education in the nation. Community colleges allow students to specialize in a technical field of study if they wish. Technical colleges provide practical hands-on training for those who want to pursue a career in trade industries.
