Colleges in Lee's Summit, Missouri

One of the state of Missouri's largest cities, Lee's Summit is in the metropolitan Kansas City area. A local higher education hub, the city mostly hosts satellite campuses of other nearby community colleges and universities.

    • Founded in 1858, Baker University is a private liberal arts college that maintains an affiliation with the United Methodist Church. While Baker's main campus is in the northeastern Kansas community of Baldwin City, the university also hosts satellite campuses throughout Kansas and in Lee's Summit, Mo. Students can enroll in business programs from the university's School of Professional & Graduate Studies academic catalog at the Lee's Summit site. Many of the programs are offered evenings or online. While the school's academic catalog mostly consists of associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs in business-related disciplines, the Lee's Summit campus also offers a master of liberal arts program for online study.

    University of Central Missouri

    • The University of Central Missouri is a public four-year university. Founded in 1871, the university's main campus is based in the rural central Missouri city of Warrensburg. Central Missouri's academic catalog is extensive and includes both undergraduate and graduate programs of study. The Summit Center in Lee's Summit is one of the university's extended campuses. Established in 1999, today the center is a hub for metropolitan Kansas City students seeking advanced study in teaching, aviation safety and a few other areas. While the center primarily features graduate-level programs, a few undergraduate programs are available, most of which must be partially completed at the university's main campus in Warrensburg.

    Metropolitan Community College

    • Metropolitan Community College is a public community and technical college with five branch campuses throughout the greater Kansas City area. MCC's Longview campus in Lee's Summit has about 8,000 students each year. Opened in 1969, the branch offers diploma, certificate and associate degree programs in five academic divisions, including humanities, technology and science. The college's academic catalog offers disciplines from anthropology and astronomy to physical education and political science.
