Stanford's undergraduate program requires students to complete 70 units of psychology courses with a grade of C- or better, or "Satisfactory" if the course is graded on a satisfactory/no-credit basis, to graduate. The department offers four optional specialization tracks designed to offer intensive exploration of topics, such as cognitive science and neuroscience, and encourages students to take an advanced seminar course. The department's senior honors program offers qualified students the opportunity to perform independent research under the supervision of a faculty member and present their findings to the department. Students must receive two letters of recommendation from psychology-department faculty members, one of whom must be willing to be the student's honors adviser, to receive program entry, and priority is given to students with a GPA greater than 3.0. Juniors may be considered for the program if they have completed 130 units of coursework and will have completed all of the psychology major's required coursework by the end of their junior year. The department also sponsors the Stanford Undergraduate Psychology Association (SUPA), which is a student-run organization that connects psychology students with peers and professionals through informal gatherings and academic events.
