The goal of the London School of Hygiene and Topical Medicine's Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health is to teach students to apply their knowledge of the public health field to everyday problems. Coursework includes public health and policy statistics, epidemiology, social research standards and health economics. Students will also have to take two additional electives, and they can choose from courses like public health problems, theories of health promotion, health services and health policy. Students will also have to specialize in one of the following areas: environment and health; health promotion; or health services management. Students must either have a degree in a related field or public health experience. This is an online class.

The University of London External System's Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health program requires between one and five years of study, and students must study six modules. Students may take the classes all at once or take the classes as individual short courses. Coursework includes health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, care and public health environmental threats. Students must specialize in one of three areas: health and the environment; health promotion; and health services management. This is a long-distance course, and students will receive a CD of the materials, required paper readings, homework materials and access to email and online support. This course starts every October, and students must be registered by the end of August.

The University of Otago's Postgraduate Diploma program requires students to have a degree related to this field or previous public health experience in order to take this course. The program will last a year for full-time students. Students will be required to write two main papers and several smaller papers, and students must receive a passing grade on these papers in order to graduate. Coursework focuses on all aspects of public health.
