Cameron University offers courses in television and video production, and the goal of this program is to prepare students for production in studio and single camera methods. Students also may work on the crew of CUTV to learn hands-on production methods. Coursework includes learning the basics of television production; learning video production techniques; lighting; staging; editing; field production techniques; live broadcasting; program writing; graphic design; and documentary production. Students who graduate from this program will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in radio/TV. The university features a television studio with a variety of equipment for students to practice on.

Ohlone College offers associate degrees and certificates in broadcasting, both film and television. Courses include digital video and lighting, which teaches students how to light up scenes and shoot them. The film and video production class offers students hands-on training in lighting, shooting and getting the set ready for filming. The goal of this program is to prepare students to obtain an entry-level position in video production. The school also offers classes in live television with Directing Live Television, which teaches students how to direct a creative crew, work the camera and run the audio board. The Live TV News Production class teaches students how to produce shows for live newscasts and how to be a reporter or anchor.

The University College Falmouth offers a Master of Arts in Television Production, which teaches students how to direct crews, handle budgets, pitch ideas and shoot videos. Coursework includes camera techniques, editing, conducting research and direction. This is an intensive, one-year long course, in which students will be conducting hands-on work with cameras and crews. The course is taught by professionals who are already working in the field, and it also includes lectures, guest speakers and seminars.
