A leader in student satisfaction and degree completion, Northwest Missouri State University was founded in 1905 and offers 140 undergraduate programs and 36 master's programs. The largest groups of graduates come from the business, education, geography and agriculture departments. Originally founded in 1915 as St. Joseph Junior College, Missouri Western State University is a four-year college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It has 57 bachelor's programs, six master's programs, six associate's programs and four post-bachelor's certificates. There are 94 majors and 41 minors available for students to choose from. The school has a statewide mission of applied learning, so students can participate in internships, study away programs and student-faculty research.
