Alabama offers a technology scholarship program that takes care of college fees and tuition for courses in technology approved by the state. The student applying for the scholarship must be a certified teacher working full-time in an Alabama public school. The course taken must be focused on technology that is going to be used in the school curriculum. Teachers interested in applying can get an application using the following contact information:

The TEACH, or Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education, grant pays up to $4,000 each school year. The student must major in education and commit to teach for a period of four years in either a public or private school that has primarily low-income students. The student has to be enrolled in a high-needs area, such as special education, science, reading specialist, math, bilingual education or foreign languages. To apply, the applicant must fill out a FAFSA, Free Application For Student Aid. This form can be obtained from the school's financial aid office, or by going to the FAFSA website at fafsa.ed.gov. The Mildred, Mack & Blanche Stewart Teacher Education Endowed Scholarship is given through the University of Alabama. Incoming freshmen wanting to apply must have graduated from school in one of the following Alabama counties: Jefferson, Bibb, Blount, St. Clair, Cullman, Shelby, Walker or Tuscaloosa. The student needs to have a 3.0 grade point average and score at least 1030 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT test. Students who are transferring from a community college to the university can also apply. The individual will have to show financial need, have two letters of recommendation and turn in an essay of 500 words explaining why he wants to become a teacher and why he needs financial help to do so.
